INDIVIDUAL LIFE COACHING
We discuss your symptoms and sufferings. I complete an in depth Integral Intake assessment where we look at your current life style and habits, and we review the most significant stories in your personal history, so that I can begin to understand the rhythm of your life.
Once I understand your habits, stories and rhythms, using Jungian techniques like dream work, active imagination, voice dialogue, and focusing I can bring to light the deeper structures and patterns in your unconscious that might be causing your suffering.
For instance, you may present your issue as “stress in the workplace” which has been causing increased anxiety, sadness and sleep disturbance, in addition to several physical issues — weight gain, heart palpitations, and increased use of alcohol. During our conversations we may discover,for example, your boss has similar traits to your grandfather who died two years ago. This would lead us to investigate your relationship to your grandfather and to his death. In so doing we might find that you never had time to mourn his death. Your boss’s behavior is amplifying the great qualities you so admired in him and have lost.
Once we have an idea about the sources of your suffering I help you make the necessary changes in your life to alleviate the suffering. Often this involves: learning how and what to observe in your life and relationships, how to recall and interpret your dreams, how to recognize and respond appropriately to stressors and depressors in your environment, and/or rituals for healing. Now you have to do the work of changing your automatic reactions, your habits, your self-talk, your relationships or your environment depending on what we discover is causing your suffering. I compassionately hold you accountable to your commitments for change.
